# AI credits

> How AI credits are granted, used, and expire.

AI credits are the usage currency for AdLoft's AI features. Your organization has a single credit balance, shown in the header and on the billing page.

## What uses credits

Today the main consumer is the [AI Campaign Builder](/ai-builder/credits). Manually built campaigns and standard reporting don't use credits. Credits are consumed per action.

## How credits are granted

* Plan credits are granted when you start your subscription and again on each renewal.
* Annual plans receive their credits **monthly**, the same as monthly plans.
* Upgrading your plan grants the new allocation immediately; your existing unexpired credits remain.

## Expiration and order of use

  Plan credits **expire 60 days** after they're granted and do not roll over indefinitely. Bonus (referral and pack) credits **never expire**.

When you use AI features, AdLoft consumes your **oldest expiring plan credits first**, then dips into bonus credits.

## Viewing your balance

* **Header pill** — your current balance, visible across the app. Owners also see an Upgrade link.
* **Billing → AI credits** — shows total remaining credits, how many you've used this period, bonus credits, your plan's allocation, and a list of recent grants.

## Running out

When your credits are exhausted, AI features are unavailable until your next grant or an upgrade. To get more credits:

* **Upgrade your plan** for a larger monthly allocation.
* **Refer friends** to earn 200 bonus credits per conversion. See [Referrals](/billing/referrals).
* **Wait for your next monthly grant**.
